If you haven't noticed social networking has become mainstream, if your not using it in your business
you probably need to rethink your marketing strategy.
Traditionalists will tell you that word-of-mouth is the best way to get your message across in business and they would be right, but what if you want to tap into the fastest growing marketing tool on the planet? Learning how to leverage social networking to market your product will pay off in the long run. Small businesses are finding out that they don't have to invest large quantities of money to find new customers for their products and services.
Here are steps to get started:
- Establish your goals, short term and long term prior to jumping into the social networking pool. What do you want to accomplish? Adding 50 new connections, clients and getting people into your store. Increase your sales. or other.
- What platform do you want to use, i.e. Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, other. There are literally thousands of social networking sites on the internet today, which one fits your needs best.
- Implement your plan - signup, setup, and make it happen
- Niche marketing - find out if you have a niche to fill
- Evaluate your endeavors
The bottom line in social networking is to make it conversational, remember that you are making connections with potential clients. You don't walk into a room and say "Hey, I've got ABC Widgets to sell, visit my website and see what we have on special." Don't do that in social networking forums, you want to create a dialog with potential customers, why not ask instead, "What is your all time favorite widget?" you'll be amazed at the feedback you'll receive in reply.
Keep it real, keep it conversational and keep up with changes and roll with them. . . those who are able to change will make the most of this valuable too.
